You know, one of the reasons I love to write about my trips is because it makes me travel back there. I can see the things as if I am there right now and sometimes even different tastes or smells come to life. I know it sounds a little crazy, but it is like that to me when writing about Melbourne, Australia...

Melbourne is a city where "foodies" and "wine lovers" will have a blast. A place where you can find anything from tradicional street food to fine dining in elegant surroundings. Sure, you can found this in many other cities, but there is something about the food scene in Melbourne that sets it apart.

I had to travel to Melbourne and decided to take the opportunity to visit the Southbank area, just south of the Melbourne city centre, and a short walk across the Yarra River, lies the arts and entertainment precinct that is Southbank. There you can enjoy all the Arts Centers, strolling riverside through the Southbank promenades, shopping, enjoying the attractions, and of course dining in a variety of cafes and restaurants.

Being a tourist destination many of the hotels, also have tons of good options that will satisfy the international travelers. However, if you want to really taste the Aussie food, all you need to do is walk around and find your way to all the many places, affordable, comfortable and full of locals to casually chat with. This way you will get to know the "real" Aussie scene and culture. You might even find a local that is willing to show you some other places because the Australians are really hospitable and very easy going. Overall, they always seem happy to see new faces in their country and more than willing to show new visitors around their city for a few hours.

Take two or three days to visit all the wonderful wine regions. The immediate proximity of five incredibly diverse wine regions gives you an array of options. They are: Yarra Valley Mornington Peninsula, Geelong, Sunbury, and Macedon Ranges. You will also find beautiful hotels, wonderful scenes and amazing places to eat out there.

If you ever want to find a destination where the food is a big party of its best attraction, try Melbourne.

Aos amantes da boa gastronomia e apreciadores de vinhos... Melbourne

Um dos motivos pelo qual tenho prazer em escrever sobre as minhas viagens, é porque de uma maneira ou de outra eu acabo voltando no tempo e lugar onde visitei. Eu revejo as coisas, e muitas vezes os sabores e até mesmo cheiros vem a minha volta. Eu sei que parece um pouco loucura, mas foi assim que me senti quando pensei em escrever sobre minha experiência em Melborne, Australia.

Melbourne é uma cidade onde os amantes da boa gastronomia e apreciadores de vinhos se deslumbram. Um lugar onde você pode encontrar de tudo, desde comidas típicas vendidas em barracas de rua, a alta gastronomia de restaurantes localizados em bairros mais sofisticados e chiques. Claro que você encontra o mesmo em várias outras cidades do mundo, no entanto tem algo em relação a culinária de Melbourne que faz a cidade se diferenciar das outras.

Uma vez viajando pela Austrália, fui à Melbourne e decidi aproveitar a oportunidade para explorar a região de Southbank, sul do centro da cidade, numa curta caminhada sobre a ponte do Rio Yarra que corta a cidade, encontrei um cenário repleto de artes e atrações, isso é Southbank. Lá você pode explorar as diversas galerias de arte, lojas de artesanato, atrações ao ar livre e claro uma diversidade imensa de cafés e restaurantes.

Por ser uma cidade turística, muitos hotéis também ofereçem várias opções que agradam aos paladares internacionais, mas se você realmente quer conhecer o sabor da comida australiana, tudo que tem a fazer é caminhar pelos bairros e explorar os diferentes lugares para comer, com preços relativamente baratos, ambientes confortáveis e a companhia agradável de simpáticos australianos, onde a conversa fluirá naturalmente. Essa é a maneira mais fácil de realmente conhecer a rotina, os hábitos e a cultura Australiana (conhecida como Aussie). Considerando que Australianos são muitos hospitaleiros e abertos, assim como os Brasileiros, você poderá até encontrar um Aussie que esteja disposto a te mostrar mais da cidade, eles sempre parecem felizes em encontrar estrangeiros que estejam dispostos a conhecer mais sobre seu país e sua cultura.

Também reserve dois ou três dias de sua viagem, para conhecer a maravilhosa região dos vinhos. Há aproximadamente cinco regiões vinícolas, que oferecem uma grande diversidade de vinhos, são elas Yarra Valley, Mornington Península, Geelong, Sunbury e Macedon Ranges. Lá você também encontrará hotéis deslumbrantes, paisagens de tirar o folego e comidas de dar água na boca.
